The 11th Annual Conference of the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians in conjunction with the 44th American Association of Zoo Veterinarians and the 18th Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians will be in Oakland, California, October 23 through 26, 2012. This is a landmark conference with these three groups together for the first time.

Housing:

The Marriott Oakland City Center will be host to the 11th Annual Conference. The hotel is in the heart of Oakland, within walking distance of many restaurants, shops, and Jack London Square. It is also just across the street from the "12th and Oakland City Center" Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station, which will be the most convenient way to arrive from either SFO or OAK airports. Room rates are just $139/night single/double for the Conference. Lectures, Workshops, and Wet Labs

32.25 hours of lecture for continuing education credits.

Back by ever popular demand will be Dr. Vittorio Capello presenting a 1.5 day lecture series along with Dr. Angela Lennox on Dentistry and Orofacial Surgery topics culminating in a 4 hour practical workshop on Thursday afternoon at the Oakland Zoo. Space will be very limited in the lab and transportation will be provided. PLEASE NOTE: This workshop sold out in record time, but a waiting list is being kept. Conference Syllabus of Presentations: (Please note that titles and presenters are subject to change.)

Proceedings

Proceedings this year for both the lectures and dentistry workshop will be completely digital. Each registrant will be sent a link prior to the conference so that one can either download the file or print the file or both. We are doing this in a effort to be a more green association and ultimately save on operating expenses. Once the conference is over, the proceedings will be available to ALL AEMV members in the Members section of the web site.

Annual Membership Meeting

Annual Membership Meeting with Officer Elections on Wednesday, October 24th immediately following the last lecture presentations. Both the offices of President and President-Elect will be announced. Please make plans to attend this important function as this is your association and we need our members to offer input, volunteer, and continue making AEMV grow.

Sunday Icebreaker, Friday Luncheon, Zoo Day, Free San Francisco Zoo Admission, Exhibit Hall

New Events for this year include an AEMV-sponsored luncheon on Friday, October 26th. It will be buffet style and will have items for all dietary needs. Because the AAZV and ARAV are both hosting banquets we decided on a great luncheon and for those of you that ever attended ICE it will bring back memories. There will also be a few surprises during the luncheon as well.

On Sunday October 20th there will be a joint AEMV, AAZV, and ARAV Icebreaker at the Aquarium of the Bay at the historic Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco.

AEMV members are cordially invited to participate in the traditional Zoo Day. Transportation and a box lunch will be provided courtesy of the Oakland Zoo and Tickets can be purchased for the reception and dinner that evening at the Scottish Rite Temple in Oakland. AEMV will be participating for the first time in the auction following dinner and we already have some great items do you don't want to miss out on this event.

Free admission to the San Francisco Zoo during Conference week.
